Nottingham CityCare has launched a dedicated staff network to support colleagues completing clinical apprenticeships.

The network launches ahead of National Apprenticeship Week next week and offers support and guidance to help them during their apprenticeships.

The Clinical Apprentice Network meetings will be supported by Apprenticeship and Careers Engagement manager Emma Cross and a member of staff from the Professional Standards team.

The network aims to provide:

  • A safe space to share experiences and learn from one another
  • Share clinical or apprenticeship updates
  • A chance to learn from others
  • Sessions with guest speakers.

The first discussed the types of support apprentices may need updates on apprenticeships and topics of future quarterly network meetings.

The session also included a presentation on self-care and compassion.

Emma Cross, Apprenticeship and Career Engagement Manager, spoke about the launch of the new Clinical Apprenticeship Network.

“The launch of the Clinical Apprenticeship Network was a huge success. We were able to facilitate the sharing of best practices and provide support to our clinical apprentices. This year’s Apprenticeship Week theme is ‘skills for life’, so we had a great discussion around lifelong learning.

We hope to continue to help and support CityCare clinical apprentices in future network meetings.”

CityCare is committed to developing the skills and capabilities of our workforce, through professional and personal learning, leadership and managerial training, and apprenticeship programmes.

There are currently 39 apprenticeships running across CityCare, which involve a mix of in-work experience and training from local organisations, such as Nottingham Trent University and Nottingham College. Current our apprenticeships are in various fields, such as Project Management, Business Administration, Accountancy, Academic Professional, Nurse degree, Nursing associate, and Assistant Practitioner. Look out for case studies featuring staff on these apprenticeships next week.
