Retaining, supporting and sponsoring the development of black and Asian colleagues.

Nottingham CityCare has a three-year leadership strategy. In April 2023 a 12-month leadership development programme for black and Asian colleagues was launched including face to face learning, coaching, mentorship, talent management and most importantly support and sponsorship.

Being part of the programme gives space for participants to develop their voice, to understand self and to find and celebrate their value and offer to CityCare and the wider healthcare setting, to be self-determining and to network with others well.

While organisations often talk about positive action, CityCare has delivered its promise and is celebrating that so far 41 people of colour (22%) of our current ethically diverse workforce have undertaken a full year of leadership development with a further 15 people booked to start in January 2025.

The feedback, the learning and the impact from the programme is summarised in a CityCare Leadership and Culture report due to be published this month.
