As part of National Apprenticeship Week, today we hosted a Staff Development Drop-In event for CityCare colleagues to find out more about apprenticeships, volunteering, champion roles, and how staff can further develop their skills and knowledge.
An ‘Apprenticeships at CityCare’ stall provided colleagues with information about the latest apprenticeship opportunities, how staff can access an apprenticeship, types of support offered, apprenticeship myths and facts, and how to develop key functional skills including Maths, English and IT.
Colleagues were provided the information on how to access:
- CityCare’s Apprenticeship scheme (levels 2-7)
- CityCare’s Preceptorship Programme
- CityCare Staff Network groups
- Trade Unions
- Leadership and Management courses
Attendees of the drop-in session provided their thoughts of the event.
Sylvia Ofovbe, Dietetic Assistant Practitioner said:
“The drop-in session was very helpful for me. I’ve had quite a few questions about apprenticeships in mind and I was able to find the right support at today’s event. I now feel optimistic about next steps. My questions have now been answered. I feel very supported by CityCare.”
Emma Cross, Apprenticeship and Career Engagement Manager said:
“The event allowed us to provide valuable information to staff, including a variety of apprenticeship opportunities, leadership development, joining staff networks, and trade unions.
I felt we had great connections with staff and were able to provide a clear path for people to follow.
We spoke to several people today, but we are keen to continue sharing information about apprenticeships and opportunities for staff.”
Emma will be attending other CityCare bases over the next few months to speak about apprenticeship opportunities.
