Last week we hosted Matthew Taylor, Chief Executive of the NHS Confederation. The visit was a fact-finding trip for the Confederation to discover more about Community Interest Companies (CICs) and their strengths derived from being ‘outside’ the NHS.
The day started with a welcome from our Chief Executive, Lou Bainbridge, before moving onto our marketplace that showcased some of our teams and values of the organisation.
Matthew spoke with our Integrated Respiratory and Oxygen Service (pictured right), the Targeted Healthy Lifestyles service, before finding out more about our volunteering, and preceptorship programmes.
Matthew then visited the Urgent Treatment Centre, which we run where he met with Angela Barnett-Connolly and Sara Spruce from the Urgent Community Response (UCR) team to learn how they help reduce Accident and Emergency admissions by responding to several key areas, such as falls.
Finally, Jim Quinn, Head of the Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC) gave a presentation about urgent care and the UTC.
Matthew noted that he was “very impressed” with what he’d seen and there is “fantastic work being done in the community”. Watch his full reflections in the video below.
Lou Bainbridge said: “We were very proud to host Matthew last week and showcase all the wonderful work we do at Nottingham CityCare.
He showed great interest in all the teams at the marketplace, and when visiting the Urgent Treatment Centre. I’d like to thank all the teams that took part in the visit.”
